The Alto tunnel was double track. The double track, 3rd rail interurban joined the main line to Tiburon at Detour. It went across the twin rail draw bridge, thru the tunnel and on into San Rafael. The second track was torn out many years ago when the electrics were gone. The narrow gauge went thru Larkspur to San Anselmo and turned left and went to Fairfax, over white Hill and up the coast.

Later when the interurban was built they made it duel gauge to San Anselmo but the narrow gauge didn't go over to Detour at Baltimor Park.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Now the tunnel north of San Rafael was single track as were all the tunnels to Tiburon except Alto.
