It's all part of what Bruce Brugmann decades ago in the SF Bay Guardian called "The Manhattanization of San Francisco". In its November 1, 1979 issue, page 7, SFBG ran a four-high stack of photos showing the SF skyline, viewed from Treasure Island, in 1958, 1970, 1972, and 1979. I couldn't find thst series online, but here's a photo that represents the concept: [gamatiasz.files.wordpress.com]. Looking at a city whose buildings are all at the height limit is kind of like having an ant's view of a curb.
Bruce is gone. The Guardian is gone. The problem is worsening.
