Unless there is a cross platform access to a ferry, nothing will work! Nobody in their right mind wants to drive to a station, get on train, get off train, walk or get on a bus, get off bus on to ferry and then repeat the whole process in reverse at the end of the day. Especially in Marin's cold and damp winters!
