The Train-Ferry Commute Walk Is Not Problem

The walk is not the problem. The problem is that the ferry and train are not going to be linked. To make it a worthwhile commute option, the ferries need to receive passnegers from train and take off right away. And the train needs to meet the ferry on the return trip. Waiting around will be too annoying.
It's almost sad what a pale version of the original NWP train-ferry system this will be.
Ultimately, the walk to the ferry will be as nothing compared to sitting around waiting for a ferry to arrive, or walking across the pedestrian bridge watching as your ferry leaves and knowing you will be spending an hour waiting.
But I do think my diagram shows a really good solution. The question is how long will a ramp have to be to travel 30 vertical feet given the DMUs power situation? Can a fully loaded train climb a 3% grade?
