Thanks to all for what is new info to me, a relatively recent resident of the area. It explains the various bits and pieces of track that still exist off the BNSF main here. It's interesting that UPRR has the line from East Olympia to downtown and the port. Given that the GN and NP seem to have had an early lock on placement of rail lines, I'm curious as to how the UP came to own that segment. Maybe it was Milwaukee initially?

Given the recent problems with the local troublemakers I'll bet the UP wishes someone else owned it now.
