SMART has set their trip arrivals at San Rafael to give their riders a chance to catch GGT buses to the Larkspur Ferry. It's a direct shuttle from the San Rafael transit center to the ferry. 3-4 minutes between the scheduled arrivals of trips at San Rafael station and the scheduled departure of the buses. If your trip is delayed, the bus will not be, which would make for an extremely long trip(overall trip, not just SMART trip) to San Francisco--although there are plenty of taxis in San Rafael that could rush you to the ferry terminal for $20, but that's a lot of money for a short short trip. The transit center is the next block south relative to the SMART station, so it's not a long walk. But crossing the street, which is a four-lane one way street, will require waiting for a light at the crosswalk.
A lot of people are interested in the ferry element of SMART trips so I thought I'd post. Hope no one objects.
