There is exactly no substantive reason why SMART could not and should not be extended shortly to the GGT Larkspur ferry terminal.
Larkspur has historically hated being the terminus and it has a lot to do with ABAG trying to shove low-income housing down its throat and using the train service as an angle.
The whole issue of low-income housing is a sore subject with people in low-income neighborhoods griping about getting more and/or most of it. Most all of us are like 2 paychecks or 2 pension checks from being homeless so I am not coming from a snotty or snooty position. But "mean streets" is a real phenomenon and towns don't want to go ghetto. The city fathers want to gentrify.
