One need look no further than the comparison between a Renzenberger 'long-haul' driver and a TY&E crew. Both work under constant jet-lag conditions, both have a huge responsibility and both are constantly screwed with by management. What's that you say? She's just driving a van? Yeah, with the responsibility of perhaps as many as five to six families' futures in her hands!
Anyone remember when Milepost One came about on BNSF property? That was a result of Renzenberger drivers trying to get just a sliver of the American dream. Unions aren't perfect, but management isn't faultless, either. A little more respect would be nice, and a decent wage would help us buy the automobiles we're hauling, helping keep EVERYONE in business.
