Like Bruce, I grew up in Orange County, so my introduction to Richard Steinheimer was through his Tehachapi, Cajon Pass, & Mojave Crossing articles in Trains Magazine. Along with the Ted Benson Nevada issue, they are my all - time favorites articles. Through the good graces of the Winterail swapmeet vendors, I have been able to buy back - up copies of all but the Nevada issue.
All of us railfans & foamers will forever walk in the shadow of this great photographer. ( and not just because he was so tall...) Studying his images, I learned early on that while the trains have indeed changed, it is THE PEOPLE who really tell the story of Railroading in America. Thanks, Dick...
