Here's a couple I really like:

"And I'm tired of a culture which singles out public transit and Amtrak, but ignores the subsidies for roads, highways & bridges, particularly in rural areas. The problem is that public transit and Amtrak funding is very visible whereas subsidies for automobile usage is more diffuse."
Not to mention the USFS, Coast Guard, Airports, National Park Service and canals and levies. None of these are supposed to make a profit...yet all are feeding from the public trough providing a national service.

And...
"The slugs in Washington, including The White House, can moan and groan about Amtrak all they want but as long as we keep up this nonsense in Iraq and Ashcanistan any worry about the deficit is bullshit. We should have given our troops, especially in Ashcanistan, one rule of engagement---if it moves kill it and gotten our ass out of there."

Yep! Maybe it should be called National Offense Spending?
