Jet Blue recently announced that it is discontinuing all Pittsburgh - New York City service. Delta and USAirways plan to raise the round trip fare from $200+ to $600+.
I've flow Jet Blue a few times. It was a good experience, but it made my best trips on Amtrak still seem like good experiences on Amtrak.

Amtrak's network is already sparse. Jettisoning the Sunset Limited, for example, would leave the most of the entire southern tier of the nation without east-west intercity passenger train service.
