Roads vs. trains

I am sick of the "highway costs are ignored" argument. I don't know if there are studies on it, but my guess is this: Over 99% of the people in this country use roads in their daily lives. Probably less than 20% ride trains....Y'all like choo-choos, and yes, there have been train success stories all over the nation. I am NOT saying we should not fund rail travel, that we don't need more of it, etc. What I am saying is if your pro-passenger rail, then argue for reasons we need more people on trains, not that roads eat our tax dollars too. Anyone seen the state of roads in this country lately? It's a joke. We don't spend enough on highways, not too much! I agree we need alternatives to traffic congested highways. But stop comparing apples to oranges people. Trains will never get the funding highways do in this country. Its not how the nation functions on a daily basis.
