Notice that BNSF and the state (CA) are paying for it. Double track may be overstating what they are doing. 8000' sidings is more like it. Original plan was to start with Clff. The loop will see daylight on east end to get the second track around the hill. I think the same happens at the west end of the Bealeville DT. Sad statement that 8000' sidings took this long to happen. SP lengthened the sidings in the valley in the 70's and built the Palmdale cutoff mostly that way in the 60's.
