I've seen the 'hockey stick' graph, and find it interesting that from less than 200 years of actual records, and some ice cores, such precise predictions of doom can be made. I admit I don't study the gloom and doom predictions anymore- there's so much regurgitated BS such that chances of winnowing fact from stool is low- Oh I did study math in school, was a inguneer for most of my life and actually used it. I do have some questions . What did the Anasazi and the ancient Peruvians do to upset the weather- apparently it doesn't take all that many folks to wreck it. I have also read a little recent history, and wonder why there isn't a kink in the hockey stick pointed out for the 40s. After the depression of the 30s, when manufacturing was severely reduced- not to mention eating and heating one's home, followed by the great destruction of lots of the world, involving lots of manufacturing like steelmaking, bombing, um FIRE-bombing of Tokyo etc, Hamburg, Dresden London etc etc. And how does Krakatao and the winter of 1885 ish - all year- fit in to it?. I used to check Scientific American from time to time, but got really tired of the editorials bemoaning all the dumbfolks who questioned scientists. If you can't explain it to us dumbfolks then what good are you? And I believed in Cold Fusion for all those months DANG!
The idea of preparation for possible effects- or call them probable if you want, is one of those that draws scorn from the DUMBSHIT left. But consider this. What is the life cycle of constructed things, such as buildings, bridges, hiways, canals? Fifty years is considered typical, 100 not unusual in the event, nor is 25 years It's what math folks call the Bell Shaped Curve.. Reflect on what you see. The Hudson River RR tunnels are around 110 years and good for many more, but Penn STation was replaced, what 50 years ago?. The Panama Canal opened 100 years ago - and the new locks etc are about to be opened. Look at west coast cities- and look at pictures of oh, say Bunker Hill in LA 50 years ago. Miss the EMbarcadero Freeway? The POINT IS. those fantasy scary TV programs showing NYC under water are silly. In 50-100 years maybe half, or lots more, of the buildings will have been replaced. But instead of reason and sense, let's get our energy pie from the sky, screw the coal miners, muthasrfrackers, etc. pretty soon we'll have , oh I dunno, something free and clean. WInd? sorry DOJ is suing that wind company for letting its windmills kill too many eagles, and they are so eeeeeeew ugly, don't let anyone build them where they can be seen from Cape Cod, and we now have a solar farm, but the DSL fought it, delayed it made it more expensive at least, cuz there might have been a Kit Fox upset.
A coupla years ago we went over to see what was happening and I took camera- I was gonna shoot some old farm buildings outside the construction fence. As I set up the tripod, a guard came over to run us off cuz the foxmeister hadn't cleared THAT small area- DSL -the buildings have been bulldozed NO FOX IN HERE. Hydro? no we got fish- just found another. Natl Geo featured a recent dam busting in Alaska- the power wasn't needed [right now] cuz the area could buy it off the grid, generated someplace else- DSL in action.Nuke?? Down to one IIRC, in the peoples democrat republic of Kalifornis. REmember the blackouts? Gee that sole surviving plant at Diablo, harassed overandoverandoveer was the cheapest producer. And shut UP about the possible catastrophe- I live under the projected plume and get bogus text messages about the siren that went off, then another that sez oops we lied.
Private jets- well the US forewent an SST onnacounta the exhausts way up high would have impacted the Ozone layer- remember when we worried about the hole in the OL over the South Pole, and the blanket of ozone over Los Angeles?
The real problem is people. The true believers that think people are behind climate change and MUST BE STOPPED can show the rest of us skeptics and undecided by example. Determine an eco friendly method to remove your carbon footprint from the earth [ sharks? ] and do so immediately. Why continue to be part of the problem.
