I dunno ..... I kinda liked the AMX. Back in the 70's my two dream cars were the '70 AMX or the '67 Cougar. Unfortunately, the best I could do at that time was a '72 Plymouth Fury III.
Regarding those aforementioned monstrosities, aka the Vega/Pinto/Gremlin (you forgot to mention the worst of the lot - the AMC Pacer), those were the result of government pressure put upon the automakers. I seriously doubt we'd have seen any of those horrid little rats if the automakers had been left to their own proclivities.
