SMART real target of Novato lawsuit?

I notice that the same individuals who initiated the Novato legal campaign against NCRA also voted against putting the SMART initiative on the ballot in Marin. Perhaps their real goal all along was to impact the election. After all they can only hope to delay the NCRA but by preventing the restoration of the NWP before November they will be undermining the SMART campaign.

Personally I think the SMART opponents are making a big mistake. They should support SMART. The plan is so marginal and so minimal that is has true fiasco potential. Most all light rail projects turn to be pleasant surprises, but this one has the potential to be the exception. Once the honeymoon is over SMART's ridership could very well be way below projections. Then Novato will be able to taunt we told you so.
