Have you been to see the Sprinter? Obviously not. It's really a very well built and high capacity regional rail transit system, and it is really working quite well. Sprinter is compatible with freight using off-peak service, due to the design of that equipment. Colorado Rail Car equipment, manufactured right here in the US is fully FRA compliant, not requiring temporal separation of freight operations. These are very efficient high capacity vehicles that can operate in units or trains. Sprinter operates in a very similar mixed urban environment like Marin and Sonoma.
The anti-rail extremists (another strange coalition of faux environmental and fringe wing nuts like Novato?) used the same nonsense arguments against Sprinter, that the train haters are using against SMART, noise, traffic, no one will use it, it will kill our children, blah, blah, blah..... Of course it all turned out to be a bunch lies and hooey. Meanwhile, the overwhelming majority of the people, who don't have some nutty side agenda, think it's great.
