As an old curmudgeon, who is thoroughly convinced, by new evidence I see almost every day, that we took the lead out of gasoline far too late, I am wont to explain much of what constitutes the "logic" that purportedly motivates some of these goofier decisions.....
Greed obviously is a big motivator, since the more bloated, gold plated, and expensive this project has become, the more slop there is to fill the trough, for the hogs to feed on.
The CHSRA fiasco has met all of my "worst case" expectations thus far, though. And, as we've just seen, the Altamont initiatives by ACE have run into nimby both insanity and lack of proper resources, despite worsening congestion, All while we continue to piss billions of dollars away, now also in the cost overruns, building this "vital" super high speed line, between Chowchilla and Wasco.
