The problem with running 125 mph diesel on "bullet train" right of way is that the HSR infrastucture is designed for elecric MU trains often powered with motors on each truck, or at least power units optimized to maintain 200 mph speed on 4% grades. The visible HSR segment at Calwa would be an example of this. I don't believe Charger locos with conventional trains would perform well on 4% grades, but someone may be able to explain this.
