Trying to run diesels where they were never intended is a solution to a non-existent problem. They can mothball that trackage for a decade and who's gonna do anything about it? The opponents cannot even get a simple audit of the megaproject, scandals and all.

I'd say the one time the CAHSR fiasco could become more in the public eye and more of a political problem is in 2028, with the LA olympics. So much could have been accomplished in SoCal by that time with the monies that have been blown on JerryRail.
