I subscribe to Trains, Classic Trains, MR, PTJ, TRP, SP Tech, and several WW2 magazines. Others that I buy on a regular basis at Barnes & Noble include R & R, RMC, Model Railroading, and the Trains special issues. In the past I also subscribed to Stock Car Racing, and National Speed Sport News(paper), until they closed up shop.
In addition to the Internet, let us not forget the rise of high - quality book publishing. Bob Yanosey at Morning Sun puts out 16 FULL - COLOR books a year, and more recently some smaller soft cover as well. And most all of the Morning Sun books cover the 1940's to 1980's era that those of a certain age all enjoy. Arcadia Publishing and White River are also producing great books on RR and related subjects.
The Internet has been a double - edged sward for publishers, as Internet shopping has killed many hobby shops that not only kept the flame lit, but also purchased ad space in the magazines. I know several people that, when a new book is released, will go to B & N to flip through it, then buy it on Amazon !!! Will B & N go the way of Borders ??? I'm thankful for Powells Books in Portland, OR., truly a destination bookstore with a large Railroad book section and high - quality used books too.
