I'm very sure that I have seen welded rail bearing the imprint of Nippon Steel, and I'm pretty sure that is manufactured in Japan, not the US.

Here's a link to a site that comments on a CSX welded rail project in McKeesport, PA (with a photo clearly showing "Nippon" marks on the rail: (scroll down 1/3 of the way or search for "CSX")
