I can attest to the steady stream of containers, grain trucks, and dry vans going both ways between Lewiston and Spokane. JB Hunt container loads northbound, 20' container loads southbound. Gotta be at least 20 or 30 containers of various capacity per day But just off the top of my head it doesn't appear to be enough to justify short haul transfer by rail, even if the old complete P&L was still intact.

Since we're discussing fantasy projects (otherwise known as "Stimulus II"? jk), I would opt for routing such rail traffic via UP to Plummer, STMRR to St. Maries-Clarkia-Bovill (rails of varying load specs are technically still in place, right?), then contructing the new fantasy line from Bovill to Arrow Junction via the Potlatch River, Dry Creek - Potlatch River, or Big Bear Creek. But it would probably take a lot more than a mere $130 million to placate all the private landowners for ROW aquisition along the potential route!

Besides, if the Administration was willing to let go of $130 million for the region, they'd probably prefer to spend it all on another wind farm .......
