From my bike riding and track - cracking adventures, I have grown to appreciate how well - engineered the Milwaukee Lines West mainline was.( The branchlines, as you noted, were another matter. ) 'Tis a shame they were always the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th railroad to call on potential customers. It's also a shame the Board of Directors and senior management did not support Lines West with more funding to keep the business they did have.
