Someone posted similar info on the Trains.com site, including a link to the latest reports and findings on WA rail transport. As its so-called governor points out, WA deserves more credit than it gets for its vital role in Pacific trade. I've seen several ag publications which say WA actually runs a trade SURPLUS with Asia (unlike the rest of the U.S), exporting more goods than it takes in. Don't recall if that was figured in money, weight, quantity, or what. And it obviously excludes the incoming containers which skate on through WA to points east and south. But any you slice it, WA is an exporting powerhouse, and could use that expanded Stampede capacity for ag exports just as much as for Asian imports. Yes, there already is containerization of grain, hay, and other products from eastern WA and north central ID for Asian export. Been going on for years.
