not quite accurate.
1. only 7 years previously Cleveland opened what is now the Red Line, which also was the first US transit directly into an airport before BART even opened.
2 high tech AFC not new--already in use on PATCO and the IC(Metra) Electric.
3. ATC again PATCO was up and running before BART
4. platform annunciator system indeed an innovation although refusing to put destination signage on the trains was a step backwards.

Note that the ATC was so dysfunctional that BART was required on opening day to use manual blocks in the form of personnel in temporary shacks on the platforms calling train arrivals and departures to Central.
