A nice cover story. How come it has never been duplicated since despite its putative superiority? BART had to pick out a gauge that was still in use, not one(like 6 feet) that had been redone to standard. The Erie RR also had the hubris to believe everyone else would follow suit, just like BART.

Personally I imagine they used a dart board from which standard gauge had been carefully excluded.
