Except that as taxpayers, we're supporting Metrolink and Amtrak. I'm not sure if the politicians are holding either organization accountable. It's worth pointing out as well that the TriRail episode involved a coverup by TriRail management as well as the crews. Old Pole Burner yourself have point out tht Metrolink is covering up by claiming to have made a new rule to fix the Rialto situation.

We can speculate -- and it's worth pointing out that a lot of people were hand-wringing about "jumping to conclusions" after the Chatsworth tragedy. After all, a little green man could have arrived from Mars and fiddled with the signal. Let's not be so quick to say the engineer was texting!

I think it's hard to avoid thinking that the Southern California episodes in particular idnicate that our local, taxpayer-paid "officials" have maybe not been working very hard. It's worth pointing that out. And if anonymous "officials" posting here are touchy about it, maybe that's with good reason.
