>> . I'm not sure if the politicians are holding either organization accountable

I would agree - completely.

But who is holding the politicians and bureaucrats responsible for what they do - or fail to do?

We, the people, just keep sending back the same old useless good for nothings. Or, once in a blue moon, we sometimes vote for change. But feebly so; and those same good ol' boys (and gals) still just get appointed right back into positions of power anyway! So what was the point of voting for change then?

Now, if the media would actually do their jobs as the "fourth estate" and blow the whistle on all politician's failings, and not just those they don't like, then maybe, just maybe, we could then vote more intelligently. Of course, we would also need evenhanded reporting of gov't successes as well. But with their feet to the fire, politicians then might at least try to look like they are doing their jobs.

Now, just who is going to hold the media's feet to the fire? Yea right - the millions of dummied down college graduates that can't seem to tell a half truth razzle dazzle from honest reporting - or honest teaching for that matter.

So it comes down to - Who is going to hold the people to account. . . . . .

There is an old proverb that goes something like this: "When the wicked rule, the people mourn". As for holding MetroLink accountable, only the people will ever manage that. But perhaps as in the case of the Katrina disaster, only after they completely tire of mourning.
