First, a disclaimer of sorts. I do not like railroad police. I don't believe that a private corporation should be able to have its own armed force which is not responsible to any civil authorities,and in turn, uses the criminal courts to forward their own corporate goals and policies.

That said, did anyone take a close look at the UP officers themselves? To be blunt, they are a bunch of damn slobs. Some of them were obviously well into their 60's if not more and appeared completely physically unfit. Their uniforms were dirty, wrinkled, shirts not tucked and just generally unkempt. Their belts and weapons were worn askew and looked like they had survived WWI. The younger officers appeared to be in no better condition, grossly out of shape and overweight. Those officers looked like no more than a bunch of armed thugs recruited off the streets of Beirut.

These are the people UP has armed and turned loose on the public? It is about time the arkane law allowing railroad police be consigned to the history books.
