Has anyone heard about the new development in trespassing? Well, in Contra Costa County, California, because of budget cuts, the district attorney has announced that he will no longer prosecute cases of minor misdemeanors. This is to include tresspassing, simple battery, and a few others.

The police forces will probably continue to enforce, which means that they will make arrests and book suspects. This will give suspects a criminal record even though they may not be prosecuted for the offense. Naturally, the police do not want to see pepetrators go without prosecution and punishment, but they have no control over what the district attorney decides to do.
