A legitimate business mining Island Mountain is an issue between said company and the issuing
agencies for the required permits. There is NOTHING illegal or immoral about engaging in legal
business ventures. Bob's discussion is completely spot on, your or whoever's vision of toxic
contamination caused by a railroad is laughable. The leftovers from engine service while somewhat
polluting are hardly grossly toxic. There is little if any of said residue which cannot be cleaned
up via treatment by micro organisms. Further, if the railroad were to resume use of the affected
area there would be very little legal redress unless peripheral damage or migration could be
proven. I totally agree, it's just another tact to forestall the reopening of the railroad.
