So, rail supporters are always right and righteous and
those opposing it are stupid and hypocritical?

I don't think it's that easy. For example, there is
the law and the NCRA agreed to perform certain activities
in a Consent Decree and still --- after many years --- hasn't.
(By the way, I agree that part of the problem here is the way
the state set up the NCRA, making it difficult to comply with
legal agreements.)

Then there is the issue of Island Mtn, which is really the
issue for most of the environmentalists. As far as I know, if
the NCRA were willing to stop at Willits, all would line
up to support the NCRA.
