Regarding Trackside campgrounds, is the BLM Campground in California's Afton Cyn still open ??? And is it still possible to cross the Mojave River & drive into the cyn to the big cut where Tunnel # 1 used to be ??? There was a great camp spot just west of the bridge; however I'm unsure what the Feds may have had now that the cyn is part of the nat'l scenic area. The U.P. was pretty lax about camping here, as long as you stayed off the bridges.
