Thanks, I was interested in this dynamiter thing; never had such a thing on our Government Railway(they may nowadays?). Only BP leakage dragging the train down(older units with 6SL brake) or Triplevalves releasing on a/c of leaking across the face were my concern.
One US trip of mine up on the MRL, videoing F45's at Avon, the train stopped right in front of me after making a minimum. The "engineer" told me they had a dynamiter, hah! Go figure that.

So, how do you correct it? Do you put it in Emergency and then Release, or do you just have to wait it out? I could see that being a pain especially if you have marginal D/B. Speaking of that; I guess that was a maintenance issue there, being Espee?

As to Niland, I suppose your puckerfactor was more to do with maybe having a SPAD and possible oncoming movement entering the otherend. I see the line on Earth is double tracked; was it so back in your day?

The signal clearance sequence sounds interesting; nothing like that here apart from a non-clearing indication(if you were over a certain speed) at the end of doubleline, just before a major downgrade, in my former area. was taht the reason for the odd clearing indication there, or was that standard everywhere?

And I have been through Niland, back in '94, just had to after reading about the canal breach in a old Rail Classics issue.
