[donning her flame-proof suit!]
I agree completely with Eddie Elkins and
Freericks. There IS a market -- a BIG one --
for any restored rail passenger service to
Monterey. What is the Dutch saying?
"The difficult? That will take a while.
The impossible? That will take longer."
Giving up on an idea is the best way to
make sure it never happens.
I came out of lurk mode because I thought
both Eddie and Freericks -- and lurkers here --
all deserve to know there are others here who
support restoring passenger rail service to Monterey.
As far as political opposition goes: that can change
quickly, as conditions change. You know the saying:
"The only sure things are death and taxes." Well --
it left out change. That is also a certainty. We
just don't know what will change ahead of time or how
big any changes will be.
Freericks:
I miss reading your posts here.
Please reconsider your decision. You have a lot
of worthwhile things to share, that I am
sure others also enjoy reading, even if they
don't or won't say so here.
Eddie Elkins:
Thank you very much for taking such a brave stand,
in spite of all the anti-Monterey-passeger-rail
views posted here.
Margaret
I really wish I could take a train to Monterey!
