Similar photos of the line from LA to Santa Monica could have been taken as recently as six months ago (and maybe can still be taken) and yet you will be able to ride a train on the ROW that looks like a parking lot (or even a had a temporary building on top of it in one place) in a year or so.
There was a heavy concrete wall on the ROW through West Los Angeles by the cement plant which has since been removed.
Takes a bulldozer and a skip-loader about a day to remove these things.
Again - not saying there will ever be a train to Monterey again, but saying there is something on the ROW now unless that thing is an apartment building with people living in it or a housing development with houses, doesn't mean much as most anything else can be easily removed.
