I've been enjoying this thread for a while.
I once had a particular customer visit my store years back that appeared to be in her late teens/early twenties and seemed fairly average. The particular customer purchased these items by Mastercard:
1 lb. 4" wood screws
1 roll of duct tape
1 roll of weed-eater string
1 25' "soaking" garden hose
1 B&D cordless screw gun (rechargeable)
1 set of screw bits containing 10 popular types of bits
Since I was the person that sold the items to this customer, the next day I was pulled into the manager's office. The manager was there with another official looking man. Looked to be a detective, or PI, or something of that nature. He introduced himself to me as a social worker. He was the person that would go around foster homes and group homes to make sure the troubled teens are happier, healthier and in a better environment than they once were.
This guy informed me that this customer had tried to commit suicide the night before with the stuff she bought from me.
He told me that I wasn't in trouble, but wanted to know how this person was acting while in the store. Nothing that I could see in the customer told me that she was hours from trying to end her life.
Even the combination of items purchased didn't look like an attempted suicide. And the social worker knew that.
It is totally possible that it is suicide. And even more possible that Sanchez was the only one who new that. Could be that the conductor was distracted. Whether work related, or non-work related. That could be the opportunity that Sanchez was looking, or possibly waiting for.
