Sounds to me that the UP wanted to get the deal closed to stop the money drain. Think about how much money they were wasting on management, lawers and other highly paid staff working on this. Plus this gets rid of the line before they have to spend any more money maintaining it. I'll bet it was costing them more that $400,000 a year dealing with this line.
