Perhaps BOB2 can explain the " free ride " the trucking industry receives ??? As a CDL - licensed driver for 30 years, I have seen 1st - hand the incredible array of taxes, fees, & permits required in the common carrier trucking industry. There's even an excise tax on truck tires & parts. Now I'm not saying that trucks pay for their full share of highway use,( and damage ), but they certainly don't receive a free ride either.
