Railroad hating railfans - you guys are a kooky bunch.

Couple things you'll be happy to take to the bank though

1) Texas, which has all the politicians you adore and spends basically zero on intercity passenger rail has, last I heard, the same budget shortfall that California has (with a much smaller population).

2) The incoming Congress has just proposed cutting (eliminating entirely) all subsidies for the following -- Amtrak, high speed rail, and the Washington Metro (which is presently already falling apart).

What will it take to make you guys happy, I wonder?

Will you a big beer party to celebrate when the last ever Amtrak limps into LAUPT with a ribbon on it and the station is then bulldozed?

Will you all be tickled pink when all the saved locomotives and rolling stock get turned into razor blades because the states no longer fund musuems?

Will you giggle with delight when a complete dropping of all regulation allow the CP, CN, UP, BNSF, CSX, KCS, and NS to merge into a single railroad that runs nothing but yellow GEVOs?

Will you all get chills down your spine when the last rail in America has been pulled up and the last yard has been turned into a Wal-Mart where more minimim wage workers can sell more goods from China?

Do you guys relish the idea that all things railroad will go the way of the ice man and the REA?

Let me know... I'm curious.
