I actually don't disagree with Sam or Robert... it would have been better had Sierra bought it. It would be great if the cement plant was brought back on line.
The issue, unfortunately, is that without a private buyer who is interested, can the property still be saved. I think it just comes down to what we want our money spent on.
In the end, I do think that keeping this line alive is a good thing.
My fear is that absolutely no one knows what works... California tries to spend its way out of debt, and it fails miserably. Texas tries to steer clear of debt through austarity, and it fails miserably.
Bush cut taxes - end result - worst recession ever.
Obama spent like crazy - end result - still in the recession.
Looks to me like neither works - maybe it is all purely cyclicle and there's nothing we can do about it.
